Our mission was to make a book for beginners and empower them to be able to make awesome looking things with little effort. No more fear of messing up your expensive fabrics.

Reuse all the nice details from the clothes where you start. No need for difficult techniques like buttons or zippers because you will reuse the existing ones. Great results with little effort.
For Boys and Girls
Our book consists of 15 different pieces for boys and for girls. The patterns sizes are from 1 to 5 years old. We also included 2 accessories specially for the moms!
For a Better World
By repurposing clothes we want to create a better world for our children. Show them where things come from and tell the story of your clothes. Educating them while making things for them: win-win.
Budget Friendly
No need to buy any fabrics, zippers and buttons. Just look at what you already have in your closet and are not using anymore. It is also a good excuse to clean and organise your closet.
Pattern Moulds
The book includes cardboard pattern moulds that are already cut out and ready to be used. This way you can immediately start! Not having to trace in pattern paper will save you time.

Voor beginners
Onze missie was om een boek te maken voor beginners en hen het mogelijk te maken om supermooie dingen te creëren met weinig moeite. En je hoeft niet bang te zijn om dure stof naar de vaantjes te helpen.
Hergebruik details
Hergebruik alle leuke details van de kledij waarmee je start. Je hoeft de moeilijke technieken zoals knoopsgaten of ritsen niet meer te leren want die zitten al in het oorspronkelijke stuk. Super resultaat met weinig hindernissen.
Voor jongens en meisjes
Ons boek bestaat uit 15 patronen voor zowel jongens als meisjes (ongeveer even veel voor beiden). De patroondelen gaan van 1 tot 5 jaar oud. We hebben ook twee accessoires toegevoegd speciaal voor de mama's!
Voor een betere wereld
Door kledij te hergebruiken willen we een betere wereld creëren voor onze kinderen. Laat hen zien waar spullen vandaan komen en vertel hen het verhaal van je kleren.
Budgetvriendelijk
Je hoeft geen dure stof te kopen. Kijk gewoon wat er (al jaren) ongebruikt in je kast hangt. Goed excuus om je garderobe even te reorganiseren en uit te sorteren!
Patroonmallen
Met handige kartonnen mallen die al gesneden zijn en die je gewoon zo kan gebruiken. Je hoeft niets over te tekenen maar begint zo meteen. Het zal je veel tijdswinst opleveren doordat je niet met patroonpapier moet overtekenen.

- How did we come up with the idea of MINIMI?
Lien was already making clothes for her baby daughter from her own wardrobe, mostly because of the nice fabrics on the dresses from her grandma. Gabriela took the sewing class in Lien’s atelier but she did not want to spend money in new fabrics because she was not sure if sewing was really something for her, so she took the jeans from her husband and cut the pattern pieces out. That is how they discovered that they had the same interest and that they liked the idea of re-purposing old clothes. They finished their tea and started discussing the potential to do something with the idea. Gabriela is a product designer with skills in concept development and understanding what people find useful. Lien knows a lot about sewing and pattern design and this way they complement each other very good.
- Hoe zijn jullie op het idee van MINIMI gekomen?
Lien naaide al langer spullen uit bestaande kledij, vooral om de leuke stofjes van bijvoorbeeld jurken van haar grootmoeder. Gabriela zat in de naailes van Lien en wilde niet te veel geld uitgeven aan nieuwe stof omdat ze nog niet wist of naaien echt iets voor haar was, dus ze knipte de patroondelen van een kinderbroekje uit de jeans van haar man Steven. Zo kwamen we tot de ontdekking dat we dit allebei heel leuk vonden om te doen, we dronken er een theetje op, en zagen ook alle potentieel om hiermee verder te gaan. Gabriela is productontwikkelaar en heel bedreven in tekenen en inzien wat mensen handig vinden; vandaar de kartonnen mallen. Lien weet veel van naaien en patronen dus ze vullen elkaar goed aan!
- Do you already need a lot of experience to be able to make the pieces in the MINIMI book?
Beginners can make nice pieces in a couple of hours. You need in deed the basic knowledge to be able to work with a sewing machine. But the nice thing about this concept is that you do not need to make all the difficult sewing techniques like putting a zipper and adding buttons, because you are just reusing the original details from the piece from which you started from. Also because the book comes with cardboard moulds, it saves a lot of time as well, since you do not need to trace in pattern paper.
- Is het voor iedereen haalbaar om oude kleren om te toveren tot kinderkleertjes of vergt het toch al enige naai-ervaring?
Het is echt voor alle beginners heel realistisch om op een paar uur tijd iets moois te maken. Je moet natuurlijk wel met een naaimachine leren omgaan. Maar het leuke aan het concept is dat je heel veel moeilijke naaitechnieken zoals een rits inzetten of knoopsgaten maken, kan vermijden doordat je ze gewoon hergebruikt uit het oorspronkelijke stuk! En het kan door die kartonnen mallen ook nog eens heel snel gaan, aangezien je niet meer alles eerst in de juiste maat hoeft over te nemen op patroonpapier.
- What was the first creation?
The shirt dress was our first creation. It is not the easiest piece in the book, but you reuse all the buttons, and the little pocket that most shirts have.
- Wat was jullie allereerste creatie?
Een jurkje geknipt uit een mannenhemd: niet het allermakkelijkste stuk uit het boek, maar wel heel leuk! Knopenrij wordt overgenomen, borstzakje komt op de jurk, een leuk kraagje eraan…
- What is the creation that we like the most?
The baby shoes from jeans pockets is one of our favorites, because you reuse all the original elements in the jeans therefore you only need to sew one circle and you are finished! Really… super fast. But we also like the T-shirt skirt because there are so many sorts of T-shirts and sweaters that make each piece unique.
- Op welke creatie zijn jullie het meest fier?
De achterzak-slofjes vinden we heel leuk, omdat die door het hergebruiken van veel oorspronkelijke elementen echt een upcycle-project ten top zijn, en omdat ze in één naaibeweging (letterlijk 1 cirkeltje naaien !) heel snel klaar zijn. Maar het T-shirtrokje is ook heel leuk, omdat het schattig is en je het uit heel veel soorten T-shirts en truitjes kan maken.
- Which piece has our preference as a starting piece to begin a project?
The jeans because you can make the baby shoes and also the retro pants. Also because the jeans are a very universal piece that everyone has at home, and it is one of the only clothing pieces that becomes prettier as times passes by.
- Welk oud kledingstuk draagt jullie voorkeur weg om iets nieuws mee te maken?
Een jeans omdat je er zowel een kleinere broek (retro-broek) mee kan maken als de achterzakslofjes. En omdat jeans een heel universeel kledingstuk is dat iedereen wel heeft liggen. En omdat het een stof is die alleen maar mooier wordt met de tijd!
